Announcement: YPT Brings Back Children’s Drama Workshops to Help Parents Cope with Teachers’ Protest in Toronto

From Press Release

YPT TO ONCE AGAIN PROVIDE FUN, EDUCATIONAL CHILDCARE OPTION FOR ETFO DAY OF PROTEST, FRIDAY, JANUARY 11TH

Toronto (January 9th, 2013) – The Pop-up Drama School Workshops arranged by Young People’s Theatre last month to help parents cope with TDSB strike action were hugely popular and sold out very quickly.

YPT is pleased to once again offer this option to Toronto families who may be scrambling to arrange last-minute child care for the Friday, January 11th Day of Protest just announced by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.

YPT will once again run full-day workshops for grades SK to 6 at the theatre and at the nearby St. Lawrence Community Centre. There is also very limited space available for JK students in a half-day workshop option. Led by professional artist-educators, these fun and creative workshops will focus on Greek Mythology, storytelling, and craft-making. Students will also enjoy a look behind-the-scenes at the theatrical process with building tours and prop demonstrations.

The full-day workshop will run from 9:00am to 3:30pm on Friday and is being offered at the special price of $30 per student (half-day JK workshop: 9am to 12pm; $20). Early drop-off is available from 8:30am. The regular cost of a similar full-day workshop is $72 but YPT is pleased to offer this childcare option at greatly reduced rates to make it as accessible as possible to families in these challenging times.
