Nantucket – Toronto Fringe 2015 Press Release

“Wouldn’t you rather be on an island? Are you sure about that?”

Excerpted from press release:

Mark Kenward’s hit solo show Nantucket is a hilarious and haunting look at the dark side of paradise. The Oakland Tribune hailed the show as “astounding, funny and breathtaking” and The Stark Insider marveled that “so powerful was his hold on the audience, the only evidence that anyone was even breathing was an occasional gasp.”

After a sensational extended run at The Marsh (San Francisco’s premier venue for solo performance) that wowed both audiences and critics, Nantucket returns for a 2015 North American tour to the Ottawa, Toronto, and Edmonton Fringe Festivals.

When Mark was 8 years old his family moved to Nantucket, arriving with all the dreams you would expect of people moving to a famous old island. Nantucket was once the whaling capital of the world (and where the Pequod sets sail in Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick). Nowadays Nantucket is one of North America’s most exclusive resorts. But in the dead of winter the island is a different place, where the reality is that not everyone will be a survivor.
