Breaking, Popping, Locking, House, Waacking and Krump – all on one stage. Performed in their rawest form by some of Canada’s most celebrated Urban Dancers.

Breakin’ Ground is dedicated to promoting and fostering urban arts, with a focus on Urban Dance. Urban Legends is the company’s debut production, featuring the work of Canada’s top urban artists. Electrifying beats, stunning feats of physicality, laughter and suspense, the show is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Select dancers showcasing their work in the production are:

House choreographer Mariano Abarca brings a luminous verve to the Fringe. Abarca led the crew “Bag of Trix” to international acclaim at “The Battle of the Year in 1999” in Leipzig, Germany. He produces the Bazaar Dance Showcase, has become a leading member of Twisted Ankles and ABS Crew, and mentors emerging dancers through Footnotes Dance with Andrew “Pyro” Chung.

Anthony “Illz” Put, Canada’s top B-Boy and the current Undisputed “Universial B-Boy League” Champion, pushes the boundaries of physicality with fearless ambition. Put is a member of both Ground Illusionz, based in the GTA, and Lionz of Zion, based in Washington D.C.

Amadeus “Primal” Marquez performs and choreographs as one of the top Krump artists on the continent. Marquez is owner of Northbuck, Canada’s premiere Krump crew, and has won numerous events, including Krump City where he was crowned Krump King of Toronto. He has been featured on City TV, Much Music, and City Pulse, and has worked with artists including Talib Kweli, Kardinal Offishal, Boi 1Da, Airplane Boy, and Ten Yards.

Urban Legends is a unique opportunity to see this country’s premiere Urban Dancers. It is sure to be unlike anything else the Fringe has to offer. See it while you can!
