Premiere of A Drop of Water is making a splash!

A sister. A best friend. A girlfriend. A death.

Drawing parallels between the stages of grief and the precipitation cycle, A Drop of Water showcases Faye, Izzy and Alta as they each traverse the stages of grief to cope with losing someone important to them. During this time, they find they are missing more than the person they have lost; they are missing something within themselves.

The founding members of Slice of Pi met while training with Humber College’s Theatre Performance program where they trained in physical, ensemble based theatre. With a continued desire to devise original works, they took on the opportunity to create a show that would highlight the perspectives of women. Every aspect, from text to movement to sound, was conceived through improvisation in a collaborative setting with the design team. The company believes this process allows for vivid, physical imagery and raw, original storytelling.

A Drop of Water will feature lighting design by Lin-Mei Lay who most recently stage managed for Ale House Theatre Company’s Othello. Lay’s lighting design explores exciting texture through the use of visual layers. The show will also feature sound design by John Salib who uses his artistry to combine electronic, ambient drones with manipulated sounds from our everyday lives providing balanced accompaniment.
