Coming to Fringe 2009: The Indian Wants The Bronx

From Press Release

Israel Horowitz’s “The Indian Wants The Bronx”

The Indian’s coming…
And 2 punks are about to change his life…

An East Indian gets lost on his first day in New York as two young men find him waiting at a
lonely bus stop. He cannot understand English, and the boys have some fun with him – at least it starts out as fun. Little by little, as the minutes go by and the bus doesn’t come, they get bored; then annoyed; then vicious. We’re brought to an awareness of
how thin the veneer of civilization is— how close beneath the surface lurks the impulse to hurt and humiliate those whose helplessness and inability to communicate can only frustrate and enrage.

Toronto based actors Alexander Krstich and Stephen Chambers produce their favourite play for this year’s Fringe Festival. Joining them is director Robert Bellisimo and actor Ali Kazmi, making his Canadian stage debut.

Be a voyeur to some gritty street life. Show up behind Honest Ed’s at the loading dock. 581 Bloor St. West…down the alley way.
