Coming to Toronto Fringe 2009: HEAD FIRST

From Press Release

HEAD FIRST in the Toronto Fringe Festival!
Produced, created and performed by Femmes du Feu

Bare knuckle, death defying aerial dance with a hefty dose of indie rock. A show that never manages to settle in one spot long enough to slap a label on it. This all female cast spins the audience on a highly charged journey through dream and memory, darkness and light.

Femmes du Feu are thrilled to present their first full‐length production, Head First at the London, Toronto and Hamilton Fringe Festivals this summer!

Head First has 2 aerial dance pieces, Impossibility and Dive, and a third short guest appeaerance by Maria Flavia Litwin in a firey flamenco trio. Aerial dance is a genre still new to Ontario audiences. The themes of this project come from a place of self‐reflection and prediction. Head First reflects pop culture from this decade, inspired by
fashion media and the aesthetic of our generation.

Choreographed and performed by Sabrina Pringle and Holly Treddenick, Impossibility uses loops of bungee cord with dance to investigate the dreams of two people whose interpretations both parallel and contrast. Impossibility has a theatrical edge with larger than life emotions, facial expressions and physicality. This piece was premiered and presented by Ambitious Enterprises in At The Wrecking Ball (2007) to rave reviews.

Choreographed by Sabrina Pringle, and performed by Andrea Ciacci, Lara Ebata, Natalie Fullerton, Jamie Holmes, Sabrina Pringle, Holly Treddenick, Dive uses aerial silks with dance to reflect the different stages of a woman’s life and questions what her future may hold. Dive was presented in Women In Dance at the Young Centre for the
Performing Arts (2008). Compelling and touching, Dive propels the audience through the influences that deliver these women to be strong and ambitious.
