Chaos Collective, with the permission of Canadian Actors’ Equity, presents the premiere of Canary, written and directed by Liesl Lafferty, featuring Tasha Lawrence, Kathryn Haggis and Heidi Waters, at the Fringe, Toronto’s Theatre Festival, from July 1st to July 12th, 2009.

This play is for everybody who has had anything wrong with them, without knowing why. Canary is a dark comedy about Lily, a young woman who is struck with a mysterious and debilitating aversion to artificial light. Our hero battles a toxic world and raises the question, ‘Are you next?’

Liesl Lafferty’s career highlights include co-writing and directing A Town Called Hockey at the Arts Club Theatre and winning a Jessie Richardson Outstanding Direction Award for House, by Daniel MacIvor.

Tasha Lawrence Broadway credits: Tony nominated Wilder, Wilder, Wilder and the Tony award winning national tour of Proof. Film: Romance and Cigarettes (John Turturro). Currently, Tasha has a lead role in George F Walker’s new Canadian TV series The Line.

Kathryn Haggis’ favourite film credits are Marianthi in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Mrs. Bumstead in Detroit Rock City. With Nikole Kritikos, Kathryn co-wrote, Queen for a Day for the Fringe in 2006.

Heidi Waters is a graduate of Studio 58, John Abbott and an Alumnus of the Vancouver TheatreSports League. Theatre credits include Dying to Be Thin, by Linda A. Carson and Storm Warning by Norm Foster.
