Crowning Monkey proudly presents the 2008 Ottawa Fringe Festival OUTSTANDING COMEDY AWARD Winner Joe: The Perfect Man.  This original comedy is created by and starring Toronto comedienne Rachelle Elie. Directed by Adam Lazarus (Lupe, Appetite)this absurd comedy runs Wed, July 1st –Sun July 12th as part of The Toronto Fringe Festival. Mike Kennard of Mump & Smoot acted as creative collaborator on this exciting piece. This character was originally created during a comedy workshop in Halifax with Master clown teacher Philiipe Gaulier (Ali G, Bruno) in 2005.

After losing his job, Joe’s passion to play all the lead roles in "THE SCOTTISH PLAY" explodes to the surface. Soon after he stumbles upon a “MACBETH Open Call Audition” and sees it as his one chance to fulfill his destiny.  Through ridiculous failures and absurd attempts at BRILLIANCE he stumbles through the opportunity of a lifetime.

A dynamic and original performer, Rachelle Elie has been developing her unique vision of contemporary society for over ten years.  A graduate of Vancouver’s Studio 58 she has studied with such well-known clown/ physical comedy teachers as John Turner & Mike Kennard (Mump & Smoot), Karen Hines (Pochsy) and Gina Bastone (Cirque Du Soleil) . This award winning comedienne has been showcased on The Comedy Network and The Women’s Television Network.
