Premiere of POST EDEN

Written and directed by Jordan Tannahill

Suburban Beast will premiere a new verbatim theatrical work and live-film with Tannahill’s piece entitled Post Eden at The Abrams Studio Theatre from April 14-17 at 8pm & 18 at 2pm, 2010.

Starring: Sascha Cole, Lindsey Clark, David Coomber, Jenna MacMillan, Kevin Walker / Lighting Design by Dan Aquila

Five actors enter the lives of the real-life residents of Neighbourly Lane, a sleepy subdivision in suburban Toronto, and begin uncovering their hopes, regrets, fears, and secrets. With flourishes of dark comedy, the loose narrative follows five residents over the course of one day and one night. Soon they discover how their respective longings and desires inextricably link them together. With an evocative score and the piece’s imagistic multi-media design, Post Eden creates a mythology for this suburban crescent in which the residents’ lives converge with their depictions of paradise, and the wilderness reclaims what is rightly hers by night.

The young Suburban Beast Artistic Director and Post Eden creator, Jordan Tannahill has already seen much success with his work. His piece, Get Yourself Home Skyler James was picked up by the professional youth theatre company Roseneath Theatre Co.

for their 2009-2010 season. Furthermore, in 2006, Tannahill was honoured as one of Canada’s Top Twenty Under Twenty for his innovation, leadership and achievement in the arts.

Due to Post Eden’s thorough interviews with residents of a Toronto suburb, the piece will continue the Suburban Beast trend of attracting non-traditional audiences. Also, the featured performers will showcase some of the best new emerging talent from two of Canada’s leading theatre schools (Ryerson Theatre School, and the National Theatre School).

For tickets: 647-342-8177 or info@suburbanbeast.ca. $15 general admission; $12 student/arts worker. www.suburbanbeast.ca. Abrams Studio Theatre located at 46 Garrard St. E., Toronto.
