L8R MTL: Toronto 2010 Fringe Preview

From Press Release

Next Play Theatre Company invites you to an intimate evening in Montreal at the Toronto Fringe Festival

Next Play Theatre Company Presents

L8R MTL

Written by Joe Hamilton and Directed by Jay Ferguson

Living now for four years in Toronto, playwright Joe Hamilton has
finally written about the two cities he has called home.  Montreal is
presented as a vibrant, sexually liberated metropolis and home to
Pierre and Melanie, a young professional couple who have married to
curb their enthusiasms.  Pierre’s job analyzing personal data from the
internet is taking them to Toronto, a city Melanie suspects will be
inhospitable to their lifestyle and to their first language (although
the characters are French, the play is presented in English).
Complicating matters is Genevieve, a sexual dynamo with a strong
interest in at least one of them, who insinuates herself into the
virtual and real lives of the couple.

With a light comic touch, L8R MTL (Later Montreal) tells the dramatic
story of three people living in a digitally mediated world where
new identities are created in an instant and location might be nothing
more than where your browser is pointing.

Next Play Theatre Company’s previous production, What They Don’t Know,
presented at the Summerworks Festival, was described as “Pinteresque”
by Now Magazine’s Jon Kaplan and enjoyed by audiences for its suspense
and Kafkaesque flavour.  L8R MTL removes the Kafka and adds the hot
sauce.
