A bittersweet song drifts over slate-covered rooftops. A rumble of laughter travels through the cobblestones underfoot. Somewhere in a dim subterranean cabaret, carefree bohemians perform for an audience of beer-soaked revellers out well past their bedtime. This is Berlin. This is 1927. This is ‘Love is a Poverty You Can Sell’.
