Fringe For Free! The Flying Avro Arrow Thurs July 1 at 8pm

contest-web-graphic Apparently we’re in musical mode right now.  Last night we had a draw and sent someone to see the musical comedy Joe White and the Seven Divorcees for free.  Tonight we’re going to do a draw for a pair of tickets to The Flying Avro Arrow, another musical comedy.

This is one that Mooney on Theatre has already reviewed, sort of.  It was involved in the 2010 New Ideas Festival at Alumnae Theatre and Sam checked it out.  She loved it.

In fact, I’m pretty sure she’s going to the show tonight…

For your chance to win a pair of free tickets to tonight’s 8pm show, just send an email to contests@mooneyontheatre.com with the subject line "Avro Arrow Contest".  A random draw will be held for the winner at 6pm.  Include your name in the email, and if you have a cell number, include it so that if you win, we can text you and let you know.

As always, we won’t do anything untoward with your email address, the only thing we’ll use it for is this specific contest.

Check out The Flying Avro Arrow press release below for more information.

Sam Mooney – Mooney On Theatre
"Is it too early to tell you about a must-see show at the Toronto Fringe Festival in the summer of 2010? You have to see The Flying Avro Arrow – A Musical at United Steel Workers of America Hall…..(Note to my editor – I’m dibsing it now!)…..This musical was performed as a staged reading during Week Two of The New Ideas Festival at
Alumnae Theatre. Before the reading, I had trouble imagining how anyone could write a musical about the Avro Arrow and make it work. Playwright Doug Warwick figured it out. It was terrific – I really enjoyed it. The music worked, and the show was funny."

Synopsis
The Canadian Avro Arrow supersonic interceptor jet is scrapped in 1959 during the cold war era. Meet John Diefenbaker, Ike Eisenhower, Nikita Khrushchev, William Shatner, Scottie, Spock and Olga (female KGB agent from Russia). The legendary Avro Arrow flies again in this musical comedy!
