Come Tumbling Down (Theatre in the Red) – 2010 Toronto Fringe Review

By Ryan Kerr

Come Tumbling Down was the story of an awkward romance turned terribly wrong.  Jack meets Jill online and they arrange to meet at a restaurant for dinner.  Despite Jack’s incredible nervousness (and perhaps, a minor social disorder) Jill falls in love and wants to pursue some kind of relationship.

Enter Jane.  Introduced as Jill’s “sister”,  we learned quickly that despite in addition to their conflicting ethnicities, there was more to the story than previously divulged.  And sadly, this was where the play came Tumbling Down.

The plot thickened to a vague mix of sci-fi and awkward, and by the halfway mark, it was difficult to understand why either group was still around.  The play had some hilarious moments, but the dramatic finale lacked audience investment.

Bonus – air conditioned venue
