From press release:

Do not miss this premiere from this  Montreal based artist at the Toronto Fringe !

Always wanted to visit real Royalty? Well, here is your chance: the  tale of a liberating queen in a liberating country in an interactive operetta in ten movements plays at the Toronto Fringe this year.

Come take a peek at royalty and watch the Paperbag Queen get personal and down to “bizniz”.

Lose your fear for the Unknown!

“The Paperbag Queen performs her List of Things” is Jacquie van de Geer’s second solo-creation.

Until then she performed, directed and created both in Europe ( The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Tjech republic) and in Montreal with other performers and artists.

This interactive piece was initiated by a workshop from the New York based performer’s group Split Bridges at Montreal’s Studio 303. Working from a list of things to be performed in a high pitched tempo, Jacquie developed the concept of Paperbag Country: a country where fear of the unknown does not exist.

Jacquie van de Geer immigrated in August 2005 from The Netherlands and since has been involved in the Montreal independent theatre scene as a performer and director.

Some of her credits: Impostor –part 1 and 2- a video-project by Robert Lendrum (who relocated to Toronto!), Domestik and Estate- both produced by Nervous Hunter and directed by Sophie Gee, The Dybbuck, directed by Avia Moore and as choreographer of the movement ensemble in Equus, directed by Paul van Dijck.

In the autumn of this year, Jacquie’s agenda will be filled with directing two original plays:” X,Y et Z” by Jonathan Marquis and “The Arrangement” by Christine Rodriguez.

Visit Paperbag Country! Get your passport at the door of  theatre Passe Muraille’s backspace and be part of Her Paperbag’s Majesty’s Anniversary during 2011’s Toronto Fringe.
