GO F#$% YOURSELF (Ted Hollister’s Cow) 2011 Toronto Fringe Review

In Go F#$% Yourself, Nikki Payne starts off the show by saying that this show is experimental, that some of the sketches will work and some of them will not and she is absolutely right. Some of the sketches are really funny, clever and original, and some of them just miss the mark.

There is no doubt that both Terry Clement and Nikki Payne are a talented duo, very charming and with great chemistry. Having seen Nikki’s stand-up before, I was sure there would be lots of laughs. Interestingly her stand-up, although funny, did seem a little out of place with the rest of the show.

The sketches which involve them both on the stage is when the show is at its best and if you like your comedy un-PC, dirty, full of curse words and thrown together with a casual delivery then this is the show for you. I don’t want to give too much away but a certain costume sketch probably got the biggest laugh, along with a grandfather/granddaughter bit and a very new take on Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

This show has incredible potential – if they had some intensive rehearsals and a really good director who could separate the wheat from the chaff and tighten the whole show up, it would be awesome. As it is – it is pretty perfect Fringe; rough around the edges but plenty of fun.

They should also get special mention for their very cute, eco-friendly press kit presentation  – a pink USB stick encased in a heart with a bow!:)

  1. I got a press kit on a USB flash drive thingy for The Travelling Salesman & His Magical Suitcase of Desires. It was awesome, I was totally impressed.
