She Said What Happened (She Said What) 2011 Fringe Review

She Said What Happened is the perfect pick me up for a bad day. In fact now that I think about it, I can’t say enough about how much I loved this show. You walk into a theatre with a large stage with three clothes racks on stage. The racks feature a variety of colourful outfits and props.

The girls make an entrance amidst flashing lights, and some impressive dance moves, followed by an introduction that had the audience in stitches by the time they were through. Featuring dancing, a crazy assortment of costumes, and three extremely talented women, She Said What Happened is akin to watching an episode of Saturday Night Live.

Granted I’ve never really seen sketch comedy before – so maybe this is nothing surprising to the Sketch Comic connoisseur. The wide assortment of sketches features  hockey moms, ballet dancers, and some surprisingly funny historical and celebrity appearances. These ladies have a slew of awards and other honours under their belts including This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Second City and The Comedy Network

The comics don a variety of hats (and other things) and throw themselves into their various roles with gusto. The girls don’t hold back when it comes to energy or commitment.

Not only are they incredibly versatile performers, but more importantly it really looked like they were having a great time. And when the performers have a great time, so does the audience.

The sketches involve situational vignettes peppered with spoof commercials, which, although the feature some slightly twisted humour, are expressed in a way that’s light and airy.

The range features something for everyone, they truly covered many different types of humour and situations. It is definitely one of the funniest, lightest shows I have ever seen. I would highly recommend it – in fact so much so that I am going again tonight.
