Here is your chance to win free some tickets and check out some 2011 Toronto Fringe Festival shows. There’s four shows to pick from, but don’t feel pressured to choose, you can enter them all.

The Editor
From press release: In The Editor, Arthur (Eric Double) has created a performance about the importance of careful writing editing. Using a laptop and projector, he will be editing a story he wrote – live on stage – to educate amuse this year’s Toronto Fringe audiences. The result is an existential laugh-out-loud look at how we edit ourselves and try to edit the people we love, to sometimes to disastrous results.
The piece plays at Factory Studio Theatre, 125 Bathurst Street. Performances: July 11 @ 3:00pm; July 13 @ 2:15pm; July 14 @ 4:15pm; July 15 @ 5:30pm; July 17 @ 9:00pm.
What happens when you assemble Toronto’s most prolific comedic improvisers to create an ongoing episodic story packed with drama, romance, intrigue and betrayal? You get The Soaps! The Live Improvised Soap Opera.
During The Fringe Festival, starting Friday July 8th at The Bathurst Theatre, audiences will be in for a treat as each show is different and not even the cast knows where storylines will go. The show stars Paul Bates (Dan for Mayor), Matt Baram (Wingin’ it), Jim Annan (Every commercial on TV!), Lisa Brooke (Second City Alumna), Aurora Browne (Comedy Inc.), Christy Bruce (Second City Alumna), Chris Gibbs (Fringe Festival favourite), Albert Howell (This Hour has 22 Minutes), Lisa Merchant (Train 48), Scott Montgomery (Ron James Show) and Ron Pederson (Mad TV) with music by Scott Christian and Chris New.

Desperate Church Wives
Desperate Church Wives is a one-woman show, loosely based on the biblical story of Prophet Hosea and his harlot wife, Gomer, which God told to marry. It is written and performed by Diane Johnstoneand directed by Laura Anne Harris. What would you think if you heard of a Holy man, a priest, a rabbi, etc. whose wife gets busted for prostitution? Well, the church women are upset! Does the hoe have to go?

The Canadian Space Opera Company, with the help of U of T campus radio station CIUT, now brings these bygone daysof radio back to life with Gravestone Posse, an episode of the long lost radio horror serial Out Of The Closet. This stagedradio drama is a warm comic homage to those old-time radio shows that your parents or grandparents knew and loved.
In this episode, James “Blasting” Pitt, the most feared gunslinger north of the Rio Grande and south of the Simon Fraser, is tiredof all the violence and bloodshed. He dreams of settling down with a wife, a family, and the Sears Roebuck catalogue. Little doeshe know that his restless undead victims are crawling out of their graves, bent on seeking revenge… Sponsored by Colonel Mills,makers of slightly above average food and household cleaning products.

Contest Rules:
(these will remain the same for each Fringe contest, so take the time to read the list once and you’ll be set)
- The only acceptable form of entry for the contest is by email, sent to contests@mooneyontheatre.com (Mooney on Theatre will never use your email address for anything other than to reply to the specific contest you entered, and we certainly would never sell it or anything like that)
- Each show counts as its own contest, and each entry must be in a separate email. So, if 5 shows are giving tickets away on a given day, and you want to try for each of them, then you need to send 5 emails.
- Entrants must be available on the day and time listed in the contest. The tickets are available for that showing only, and cannot be transferred to another date.
- The winning entrants will be chosen by a random drawing.
- Winners will be notified by email by 9pm on the day of contest closing and need to confirm their attendance 10am AT THE LATEST the following morning so that their names can be given to the theatre company for tickets to be set aside.
- Photo I.D. may be required to claim the winning tickets.
- Tickets must be picked up 60 to 30 minutes before show time at the venue box office. The box office reserves the right to release any tickets not picked up 15 minutes before show time.
- We ask that all winners provide us with a quick blurb on what they thought of the show, either in the comments section of the press release on Mooney on Theatre, or if it has already been reviewed by Mooney on Theatre in the comments section of that.
