THE WAKOWSKI BROS. – A CANADIAN VAUDEVILLE
Original Canadian Musical Unites New Voice with All-Star Cast

June 5th, 2012. Toronto ON.   Ladies and gentlemen, and those of you from Quebec…
Aim for the Tangent Theatre is thrilled to announce the Toronto debut of a new tragicomic, Vaudevillian musical: The Wakowski Bros. – A Canadian Vaudeville.

8 years after splitting the act, Canadian Vaudeville legends Jimmy and Conrad Wakowski reunite for a one night tribute performance. As the night goes on, original skits and songs bring old demons to the surface. Jimmy’s ex-wife Caitlyn joins them as painful memories and past betrayals conspire to destroy the attempt to rebuild their shattered relationship.

The show has been in development for over two years, receiving a workshop performance last summer with the Cape Breton Stage Company, and tying for 3rd place earlier this year in the National Fringe New Play Contest.

In this all-original, singing/dancing/slapsticking whirlwind, the award winning new voice
Wesley J. Colford (Excuse Me, Would You Like to Buy a Bar?) makes his first contribution to the Canadian musical theatre canon, exploring the oft ignored history of Canada’s varied and vibrant Vaudeville scene. Writing book, music, and lyrics, this is Colford’s first full length musical to be produced in Toronto.

Colford’s vision is represented by an all-star cast; including international clown sensation and Tony nominated Derek Scott (Slava’s Snow Show), veteran performer and local singer-songwriter Duff MacDonald (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels US National Tour), and Canadian music theatre icon and Sterling award winner Lorretta Bailey (Les Mis, Into the Woods). This amazing team, representing a cross section of Canada’s theatre scene, is led by director Alex Fallis and music director Chris Mounteer and has assembled to bring to life this hilarious and heartbreaking story about Canada’s theatre origins. You’ll be sure to Just Smile.
