Meet My New Boyfriend FAME – Toronto Fringe 2012 Press Release

From press release

Andrew Morrisey and FAME are dating. And this time it’s serious.
Meet My New Boyfriend FAMEĀ

This one man cabaret is about one boy’s journey from a small town in Nova Scotia to becoming an INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR!!!… well maybe just in his mind. This show is jam packed with hilarious childhood stories, jazz and musical theatre songs, bad life decisions, love and of course, love lost. Come join in on the fun where really ANYTHING could happen!

Andrew Morrisey came up with the name and concept for this show after a bad break-up. After laying in bed and staring at the window for 2 weeks he decided that he was done with men and was now going to focus all his energy into becoming famous. Oh, and he did his research by watching all six seasons of Keeping up with the Kardashian’s, in under a week. He then realized that everyone was becoming famous through youtube and that this was how he was going to make it big. He began filming a sadistic take on the song “What if God was one of us?”, in which he played God who was a prostitute, drug addict and alcoholic. After 3 days of filming he saw that they were taking applications for the Toronto Fringe Festival, so he enter the lottery on a whim not ever thinking he would get in and 2 months later he received an e-mail stating that he had won a spot. And the rest is history.

Andrew Morrisey performed, wrote and lived this show. He was recently accepted into the International Cabaret Conference at Yale University. He is only one of 36 students from all over the world. Andrew actually missed the audition when they came to Toronto but sent in a video of him singing two songs. The day after he submitted it, the head of the conference called him to inform him of his acceptance. He was told that they usually only email acceptances and only rarely call the students. He is also an honours graduate from Sheridan College’s Music Theatre- Performance program. He is also gay (in both definitions of the word).

This a show that’ll make you laugh until you lose 5 pounds, cry until you become dehydrated and it’ll make you wish you were wearing FAME’s letterman jacket!
