Cold Comfort – Toronto Fringe 2013 Press Release

From press release:

Cold Comfort

FLY ON THE WALL THEATRE in association with the Toronto Fringe Festival presents:

The Toronto Premiere of Cold Comfort

by award-winning Irish playwright Owen McCafferty

Toronto, ON – Conversations with our parents. There are those we have around the kitchen table. There are those we have in the car. And there are those we have late at night. But there are those that we never have. Because of fear. Because of what those conversations might reveal about our parents…or ourselves.

Cold Comfort tells the story of Kevin Toner who returns to Belfast after a 15-year absence. He has a bone to pick, and he is determined to have a conversation with his father that will leave no stone unturned. There’s only one problem. His father is dead. And lying in a coffin in the front room.

Laced with dark humour and spoken in the heightened vernacular of working class Belfast, Cold Comfort is an uncompromising and harrowing tale of one man’s physical and emotional journey as he is forced to confront the demons that have haunted him day in, day out.

Directed by Rod Ceballos, Cold Comfort features David Mackett as Kevin Toner and is Stage Managed by Nicole Maroon.

A ROOM. A DEAD BODY. NOWHERE TO HIDE.
