Coming up this week at Koerner Hall is Toronto musical theatre company Acting Up Stage‘s annual UnCovered Concert. Playing from November 3rd to 5th at 8pm, this year’s concert features the music of Simon & Garfunkel, performed by a star-studded cast of Canadian musical theatre performers.

An annual event in the Acting Up Stage season, UnCovered features the catalogue of a different musical icon every year, with past years featuring the music of legends like Billy Joel and Joni Mitchell, in brand new arrangements by musical director Reza Jacobs. The idea is to take pop music and set it in such a way that allows the story and words to come to the forefront of the performance.

Helping to do this is a cast of eight Canadian Musical Theatre talents: Sara Farb, Kelly Holiff, Jeigh Madjus, Melissa O’Neill, Louise Pitre, Jeffery Straker and Michael Terriault. This group of performers have been on stages across Canada, on Broadway and the West End, and promise to make the night a dazzling display of Canadian talent.

For me, being a fan of the Simon & Garfunkel catalogue already, I can’t wait to hear their music reinterpreted and highlighted, especially with the array of amazing performers lined up. With only three performances, it’s definitely a night I would recommend getting a ticket to soon.
