Real Actors Don’t Beg, They Sell Out at Fringe

Stars of Real Actors, Not People to Hand Out Change From Their Limo before Fringe Parade July 5th at 4:30pm

Vikki Velenosi and Kasey Dunn are on a two-woman mission to change the theatre industry and it all starts July 5th at 4:30pmbefore the Toronto Fringe Parade kicks off at Honest Ed’s.  The duo will be handing out change to starving artists from their limo before heading to their 6:30pm show premiere at Factory Theatre Main Stage.  It will be a spectacle unseen before at Toronto Fringe as Dunn and Velenosi support actors in an industry that glorifies poverty.

Dunn and Velenosi have gained lower-middle class business success with their Brick and Mortar chain of theatre rental spaces across Toronto and now hope to give back to the community that has brought them what goes for financial security these days.  Flipping the popular saying “For a cup of coffee a day” the pair will hand out loonies and toonies to the acting community before the Fringe parade in the hope that starving artists may also drink coffee one day.

The two-woman show is written and directed by Dunn and Velenosi, the latter having won acclaim with her last Fringe show “The Princess of Porn”, and promises to be the most controversial comedy in Toronto Fringe 2017.  Real Actors will be the breakout show at 2017 Fringe, the pair has nothing to prove and everything to say about an industry that begs to be authentic without understanding the word.  Longer term, the pair hope to change the conversation in an industry that glorifies poverty in the name of art.  Directed at the general public as much as the actors within the industry, Real Actors will leave audiences wondering “Why haven’t I sold out yet?”
