True to the blurb on the Toronto Fringe 2015 website, Hansel & Gretel by Cow Over Moon Children’s Theatre is a completely modern twist on a classic fairy tale. In this version of the tale, Hansel and Gretel (as well as their parents) spend too much time with their gadgets and too little time with each other. They, like most of us, have forgotten to appreciate the small things in life, immersed as they are in the world of technology and social media. The first day of school can be a pretty scary time: learning all new rules, meeting so many kids, and finding out which teachers are the mean ones. And as Ms. X (Debra Hale) shows us in Legs Crossed Hands On Your Lap, it can be harder on the teachers than the kids. Her story opened its Toronto Fringe run today at the Tarragon Theatre Extraspace.

How May I Hate You? (Poorhouse Players) 2015 Toronto Fringe Review

Customer service. I’ve spent far too many years post graduation asking “how can I help you?”. I’ve done clothing retail, technical support, and telesales enough to fully empathize with the struggle of working with the general public. So when I saw that Poorhouse Players would be putting on How May I Hate You? during this year’s Toronto Fringe Festival, I had to see it.

For Body and Light Presents Coming and Going (Wired on Words) 2015 Toronto Fringe Review

For Body and Light Presents Coming and Going by Wired on Words is currently playing at the Randolph Theatre for this year’s Toronto Fringe Festival. Coming and Going is a piece that combines spoken word, music, and dance. The program describes itself as a story of a young man setting sail on a ship and discovers eerie, beautiful life. Watching the performance, I forgot about the journey. I was mesmerized by the dancers and how they moved beneath the light.
