William Shakespeare’s Beauty and the Beast – Toronto Fringe 2011 Press Release

From press release

A comedy that looks at royal loveless families and the puppets that come between them.

RS Stole our Culture Productions
Presents
William Shakespeare’s Beauty and the Beast

There are rude things in life. The rudest thing of all? Forcing your son to marry an inanimate object. That we can all agree on. Containing all the elements necessary for any Shakespearean play: A traumatized mother, a deranged father, a pious son, puppetry and, of course, Robin Hood. A play for all fans of castles and soliloquies. This show is a faithful adaptation of Beauty and the Beast in the Shakespearean style.  Assuming the writer has no knowledge of the play and knows Shakespeare by name and reputation only.

RS Stole Our Culture Productions was founded in 2011 by Matt McCready. This year’s production marks the first fully mounted show for the company. This is the second play by writer Matt McCready.  His first play, “Eternal Friendship with a Spotless Smile”, debuted at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2010 and won the patron’s pick. All members of the cast are prominent members of the Toronto comedy scene, including Ken Hall (Canadian Comedy Award Nominee) and Carmine Lucarelli (CCA Winner).

This company is devoted to the production of original comedic plays with the hopes of featuring new rhythms and concepts in that genre. It is made by artists and performed for the people.
