Coming to Toronto Fringe 2009: The Emergency Monologues

From Press Release

The Emergency Monologues

Drinking Well Productions

Written and performed by Morgan Jones Phillips

Directed by Evalyn Parry

The Emergency Monologues is a storytelling adventure about being a Paramedic in downtown Toronto.  In his own animated and energetic way, Morgan tells stories based on his years of EMS experience.  You’ll hear about the gritty, ridiculous, bizarre and true side of the “emergencies” that don’t make the news.  It’s hard to believe how hard you’ll laugh at stories about events that are so horrible, but comedy=tragedy+time.  And after all, someone has to do it and better him than you.

The Emergency Monologues is guaranteed to leave you with a new perspective on the people who respond to 911 emergencies and about the people who call for them.

His book of short stories (also aptly titled, The Emergency Monologues), which was based on his play, was featured in a three-day series in The National Post. The Emergency Monologues won the NOW Audience Choice Award at the 2008 SummerWorks Theatre Festival.
