HEART-STRINGS

a new physical comedy

by Tanya Elchuk & Amy Crnkovic

at The Toronto Fringe Festival

A rollicking, irreverent adventure through love, hope, despair, and discovery, HEART-STRINGS is a surrealist romantic comedy about a girl and her heart. A dynamic fusion of theatre, movement, and music in a high-energy, 2-woman show!

Hearts. We’ve all got ’em. (Don’t we?) No one knows what to do with ’em. (Do they?) But at least we can still laugh about it. (Can’t we?!) HEART-STRINGS is a new physical comedy exploring the sometimes frustrating irrationalities of love and the long sought balance between reason and emotion. Fed up with the unpredictable impulses of her heart, one girl declares hers defective and sends it back where it came from. After a grueling “cardiectomy,” her newfound life of reckless hedonism is cut short by her heart’s unexpected return. The two embark on a roller-coaster romance of break-up and make-up as they attempt to rationalize the irrational and figure out what makes this heart tick. Skeptics of love, eat your hearts out!

“A disarming, two-woman, clown show… Heart-Strings is a find.”– MONTREAL GAZETTE

"Tanya Elchuk and Amy Crnkovic could be this year’s Montreal Fringe darlings… fun from start to finish." – MONTREAL CITY AND PRESS

A brave work. Authentic, original, innovative, entertaining and delightful.” – CHRONICLE JOURNAL
