It’s been three and a quarter hours since I left the Fringe show It’s my Show and my cheeks and jaw muscles are still hurting from laughing so much and grinning widely when I wasn’t laughing. It’s My Show is comedy writ large.
George Westerholm is a very funny man. His show is the funniest that I’ve seen at Fringe this year an I’ve seen some funny shows. He and Patrick McKenna wrote the show, McKenna directs it. Westerholm is accompanied by Jake Wilkinson on the piano and Chris Bennett on guitar. The music is wonderful.
Westerholm is very relaxed. He’s pleasant and polite and has a very subversive mind. He tells us that he observes and think about things and then sings a song called “Fat Guy On a Scooter” to make his point.
Some highlights – without giving away too much – Vegan zombies, A Rastafarian atheist, Cash Bar and … Okay, that’s enough.
Westerholm’s songs are clever and funny. He’s adorable, engaging and endearing. I’m going to go see the show again if my cheeks and jaw ever stop hurting.
