Megan loves being in the thick of all things theatre, but her ultimate goal is to promote theatre to the world of non-theatre people. It was the same when she was the theatre writer for blogTO, or the Fringe Correspondent for CBC Radio One‘s Here and Now, as it is as the founder of Mooney on Theatre. Her basic belief is that there is theatre/performance out there for everyone to love, they just need to find it. This is not to be confused with the idea that everyone should love theatre for theatre’s sake, in fact, as obsessed as she is with theatre, even *she* doesn’t love all types of theatre.
Three plays involving Africa grace the stage in Toronto during LuminaTO 2010
You know when something is hotly anticipated, and then you go see it, but you’re worried about how your expectations will affect your enjoyment of the show/movie/book? Well, I was a little worried about how I’d feel about The Africa Trilogy, playing as part of LuminaTO 2010 because I wanted it to be great. Luckily, it was great.
Mirvish Productions will not perform its shows ROCK OF AGES (at the Royal Alexandra Theatre) and MAMMA MIA! (at the Princess of Wales Theatre) during the week of the G20 summit in Toronto.
The Royal Alexandra and Princess of Wales theatres are located on King Street West, at the edge of what is designated the “traffic zone” for the G20 summit. Over the last few months Mirvish Productions has met with organizers of the G20 security team and the Toronto Police to determine how the G20 preparations and activities would affect its performances during the week of the Summit.
