Move over Kinky Boots, there’s a new fun, fresh, high-energy musical in town: Deadmouse: The Musical. This play, which is destined to become one of the most successful of the 2015 Toronto Fringe Festival, has all of the makings of a great instant cult classic: a smart and wacky story, a strong and hummable score, and a controversy that brought it to the public’s attention before it even opened.

Part of our Toronto Fringe Festival, Aspergers: A Tale of a Social Misfit is a joke-rich stand-up comedy act by Adam Schwartz. Playing at the Tarragon Theatre Solo Room and produced by Autistic Productions, this show will have you chuckling along with Schwartz as he makes fun of his own Aspergers-related misfortunes. And who knew that Ikea despises consumers with Aspergers?
When your problems are too big to handle, do you wish you could escape to an island paradise? Turns out, your problems follow you no matter where you go, as Mark Kenward (of Mark Kenward Productions) explores in Nantucket, now on stage at the Toronto Fringe Festival. The performance and narrative kept me interested and I enjoyed watching the plot thicken.

2 Ruby Knockers, 1 Jaded Dick: a Dirk Darrow Investigation is a film noir-style detective story cum magic show presented by the Toronto Fringe Festival. The show stars Australian-American comedian Tim Motley, and is based on a story by Dashiell Hammett. Motley effortlessly controls the crowd and brings out some consistent laughs with his quick wit and slight of hand.
