CLASSIC COURTROOM DRAMA COMES TO SCARBOROUGH!
SCARBOROUGH PLAYERS PRESENTS: TWELVE ANGRY MEN
Adapted by Sherman Sergel from Reginald Rose
Tickets and Information: (416) 396-4049
Scarborough Players is thrilled to announce its first production of its 51st Season. In September, Scarborough Players will present the Sherman Sergel adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning television movie by Reginald Rose, Twelve Angry Men.
Directed by Alexander Galant, this production will play at the Scarborough Village Theatre September 10th through 26th.
True to Reginald Rose’s television movie, the play focuses on the preconceptions and prejudices of twelve individuals cramped in a hot jury room deliberating the guilt or innocence of a young, disadvantaged boy charged with the stabbing murder of his father. The diversity of the jurors is quickly apparent. Layer after layer of artifice is stripped away, with both subtle dialog and violent eruptions making the play as much a blistering character study, as an examination of our jury system. Twelve Angry Men is a true "ensemble piece" and presents its actors with a unique opportunity and level of involvement; all twelve actors are on stage for the entire play, and each one plays a juror with an integral role in the deliberations and storyline.
Twelve Angry Men features Sean Ballantyne, David Cardinal, Joseph Cochrane, Craig Estrella, Ian Fox, Jim Hyslop, David Merenick, Kevin Shaver, Mena Massoud, Fabio Saposnik, Ben Trister, Robert Walker, Mike Woodbridge
Twelve Angry Men takes to the stage September 10-12, 17-19, 24-25 at 8 p.m. and September 20, 26 matinée at 2:00 p.m. All performances take place at Scarborough Village Theatre, 3600 Kingston Road, Scarborough, ON.
The Sunday, September 20, 2:00 p.m. matinée and the Thursday, September 24, 8:00 p.m. performances of Twelve Angry Men will be followed by a post-performance Talk-Back with the cast, led by the director. The audience is encouraged to stay for this discussion, which occurs immediately following the performance.
