Taking Care of Baby, playing at The Storefront Theatre, is a haunting, dark, and at points humorous take on the impact of mental illness on a family. Billed as a “fake documentary”, with the overall theme of “truth” at its core, Taking Care of Baby presents us with various characters and various truths, which made for an intriguing Friday night. Review: Hogtown (The Hogtown Collective)

Hogtown is immersive theatre celebrating Toronto history playing at the Campbell House

HogtownHogtown is precisely the kind of theatre experience this city needs. With no end in sight to our beautifying and building boom, doting reviews from around the world, and a renewed self-love (how many selfies have you taken at City Hall’s new Toronto sign?), it’s about time we had a production that’s about the history of our fair city.

It’s also wonderful to have a team forego the play-on-a-stage route to take a creative risk with an immersive, site-specific production. From the moment you step into Toronto’s historic Campbell House, it’s 1925 and you’re a ghost to the past, witnessing the stories unfolding.

This take on Kafka’s The Trial leaves Toronto audiences perplexed at the Theatre Passe Muraille

The Trial of Judith K, presented by Thought for Food Productions at the Theatre Passe Muraille Back Space, is based loosely on Franz Kafka’s unfinished novel The Trial. Unfortunately, The Trial of Judith K feels uncompleted in many ways as well, making it hard to follow or get invested in, even though it is a thematically interesting show.

With much anticipation, I found myself back in the Berkeley Street Theatre for their production of Anton Chekhov’s final play The Cherry Orchard.
